Please Organize Another Slutwalk
Under ordinary circumstances, I would give you my email address and jump up and down and offer to organize a Slutwalk 2012, but I can’t. Because I’m 7.5 months pregnant, and I just can’t commit to… well… anything.
But this needs to keep going. There needs to be more SlutWalk.
So please- while I understand your objections…
Please keep this going.
Thanks.
I really can’t organize another one, but we’ve received some emails from some people who might step up. A movement can’t be the pet project of a few people. Leadership is meant to be passed on. -Jamie
fuckingfridays asked: Why not organize another one? If you don't continue to push the issue what's going to ever change? I don't live in Chicago but I had hoped to make the drive with some of my friends that had been through this to join in again. If there isn't going to be another one then why did we do the first? Just my opinion.
i can’t speak for the whole organizational team, but i’m a big proponent of step up step back. we organized the first one, but i don’t think it is ethically right for a few people to steer the direction of a whole movement. if someone else wants to step up and organize this year, i have already offered to give them some guidance. i just wouldn’t be comfortable with this becoming my personal project. more voices is always better.

salledebrain asked: Is there going to be a Slutwalk 2012? I hope so! I'm pre-pumped!
i’m not looking to organize one but if any of the other organizers want to (or if somebody else wants to step up!) you have my full support and i’ll hook you up with all my planning materials
logan square community response to nye sexual assault

From Rape Victim Advocates:
As you may know, a young woman was beaten and raped in Logan Square on New Year’s Eve. On Monday, January 9 at 5:30 pm, Rape Victim Advocates and the Alliance of Local Service Organizations (ALSO) will convene the communityoutside the Congress Theater (2135 N. Milwaukee, Chicago) near where the young woman was found and speak out against sexual violence. We invite you to join us!
By rallying community members, elected officials, local service providers and businesses to respond to this crime, hopefully future sexual assaults - whether occurring in public spaces or in homes across our community - will be prevented, other victims will learn about local resources, and individuals will learn about strategies to stop violence.

As many of you know, I was one of the core organizers of SlutWalk Chicago. It is a project I continue to be engaged with (though it may go forward under another name; that is for the participants to decide. I am personally pro-name change, as the name, while catchy and effective in distilling a…

A lot of people accuse feminists of thinking that all men are rapists. That’s not true. But do you know who think all men are rapists?
Rapists do.
They really do. In psychological study, the profiling, the studies, it comes out again and again.
Virtually all rapists genuinely believe that all men rape, and other men just keep it hushed up better. And more, these people who really are rapists are constantly reaffirmed in their belief about the rest of mankind being rapists like them by things like rape jokes, that dismiss and normalize the idea of rape.
